Cool On a Cliff Edge!

Botallack Mine 2
This is Botallack Mine in Cornwall.

Botallack Mine 1

The shafts from this mine went out under the sea.

Purple Heather?

Taken from the coastal path as we were walking to the mine.

Heather?

A close up of the flowers.

Do these photos mean you are back from your vacation? I just knew you would bring back something beautiful! Look at that ocean. Sigh. I wish your photo came with sound effects and smells. In your first photo, I'm enjoying the spray of white flowers that spill down the hillside to join the white waves. RE: your purple flowers. I've long enjoyed the writing of George MacDonald. I think he has a description of these flowers in several of his books. I've always wanted to see them. I'll bet you can't really get the full sense of the way they carpet the meadows. Wait. This is heather, isn't it! I can hear Gene Kelly (literally). Lovely, lovely.

Wonderful Captures Bill! The castle shots are beautiful as are the ones of the Heather! When I look at that Castle, I wonder how they moved those stones down the cliffs and what it was like to live/work there so close to the sea. It must have been awesome at night to hear the waves crashing and to look out on the sea during the day seeing the Sunsets/Sunrises (depending on which side of the Island it's on) Do you know what they were mining?
Thanks for Sharing these
Michael.

I`m back!, I think this is heather, of course these pictures were taken in Cornwall which is as far away as you can get from Scotland on the mainland.

Michael.
What you can see are the engine houses, they housed the engines that pumped the water from the mines. They got a few different metals when mining, tin, copper even arsenic.
