Hello.
I am new to the forum. I have been browsing through the threads and am a little intimidated by your knowledge and skill but thought I would share a few photos anyway. I am moving from the point and shoot mode into the dslr world. My choice of camera is the Canon Rebel EOS T1i . These photos are still in the point and shoot mode as I haven't really learned what I'm doing...yet....so please be kind. This one is of my female ragdoll cat. nice images. I would try to do some reading to help you get out of Auto mode. You don't want to shoot at those high ISO speeds you will get alot of noise in your shots. You should start out in aperture mode and learn to use your histogram to get the right exposure without blowing out the whites or the blacks. Welcome to the forum and keep shooting.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
![]() Frank, lol, I'm reading as fast as I can. My goal is to get two good shots to take to the local photography club meeting in August and to speak with at least some knowledge about how I shot the photo. |

Welcome to DPS. If you are taking photos like these with your point and shoot mode, you are going to be scary good when you get the hang of your DSLR. As I read your description of just getting your DSLR and reading like mad, it sure brought back memories from a year ago. You're describing my experience. Much to learn but you are certainly homing in on the technical side of things. No fear, however, because your photographic instincts are already very good! Again. Welcome.

The second one is great . U have a very good potential. I have 2 advise dor you:
1. read the manual, make all the experience u need to understand how your camera work. 2 Shoot, look, understand and shoot again!

Thanks for the feedback. My manual looks like I've had the camera for a year. I'm still a little afraid like I was when I first started using the computer years ago. I guess I'm afraid of screwing the camera up but I think I read in the manual that I can return it to the default settings.
Frank, How did you know I didn't know what a histogram was?

Lucky guess.LOL It is more important to check the histogram than the image on the back of the screen. Just keep shooting and posting it will boost your confidence. Happy shooting.
