Okay, so Vin finally put up a portrait...so it's my turn to put up a bird shot or two. This is SO NOT my forte', LOL!
The heron lives in my pond and I've been stalking him all summer and was finally able to get one decent shot of him. Our pond is huge and he was waaaaay at the other end of it, so even my 300mm lens couldn't get close enough....but I like the shot anyway. I have a couple of bird feeders clamped to my deck and have had this gorgeous cardinal feeding there....I took the shot of him through a window screen in my kitchen, because every time I opened the REALLY dirty glass door to my deck he flew away - I really need to Windex that door tomorrow morning so I can take better ones! It's way too fuzzy from the screen, but again, I like the shot anyway. As always, thanks for looking! ![]()

Very nice Susan, I like both of them. The cardinal has a rather nice soft focus effect going on. The screen did your shot no harm in my book.

very cool Susan ! Bird shots ! .. I like the Heron shot, I think your 300m served well, they really don't like being close to people.. great reflection btw !
Love the Cardinal .. I'm one of the weird people who like soft.. the screen gave it a cool effect, and that red is poppin ! they have some of the best colors ( like an expensive Italian sports car I know ) nice gottcha on both of them. I'll shoot more people, you bring an ice tea in the backyard and hangout with the 300 on for a little while, if the Heron gets used to seeing you, you'll be able to get closer ... the cardinal will Never give you the time of day.. grab him whenever you can !! lol I think you already know I do not have a Blue Heron shot yet .. you beat me ! great stuff and I'm glad I was able to return the inspiration from your bw conversion it's fun trading motivations !! lol Vin

These are nice Susan. Looks like you live in a gorgeous area! I love Cardinals and we don't have any here. I wish I had a pond! Very cool.

Those two are beautiful. Love the reflections on the first and the soft effect on the cardinal!
