Thanks very much, Hayward. As for being this close, I honestly had no choice - there was an elevated highway right behind me, and the property was all fenced off. And for the last one, all I did to the color was to bump up the reds just a bit.

Hey Chip, they look like they're pretty tall. I like the BW in the first two.

I like your perspective on these...I really enjoy seeing all the different compositions the photographers on this site come up with.

Chip, I rest my case. These are prime examples of why abstract art will always find an audience. There is something so visually freeing to be untethered from a subject and being able to roam free around edges, negative space and subtle gradients of color--even monochromatic schemes. My favorite is your second photo, primarily, I think (and I don't want to over think it), because of the way the negative space effects the visual flow. I also love your BW experiments. Fun, huh?

Chip, these were worth the drive. The black and white is what makes the top two. I love the shapes. Well done on the last two also. Like everybody else has said, it looks a lot like selective coloring. You've shown a lot of creativity in these, finding a perspective that makes a plain, mundane object very appealing.

They are big and they are impressive, what a great selection of pictures.
I'd actually like a few more of these pictures if you have them, perhaps from a a bit further back to get the size better. They are a wonderful find and the location is worth another visit. ![]() beach Last edited by beachcomber; 07-08-2009 at 05:59 PM. |
