Default Something different..

I have always enjoyed drafting and architecture, and enjoy taking pictures of buildings, but am never really satisfied with the end result.

This one, I am somewhat happy with. Maybe it's the lines.

Something Different...

I think you're right. I think it's the lines, the gold against the blue and the sky matches the blue of the building and falls off to a lighter gradient. That's why I like it.

I have a few other hunches why this is a terrific photo. Blue and gold, when placed side by side, vibrate. Notice how the vertical and horizontal lines move, partly because of the lines, but also because of the color. Secondly, while your shot is mainly comprised of repeating rectangles, your choice of composition also created interesting triangles which balances the rectangles. The most obvious is the one of the top which draws your eye down into the photo but, more subtle, is the triangle created by the gradient light. The edge of the building is another. Whoops. Kinda went crazy. Couldn't help myself. I love this stuff, too.

Thanks And to think, I almost didn't pull out my camera this morning either!

The main thing that struck me was the edge was almost like an infinity pool, glass into sky.

I almost didn't put it online either, but then, turns out DCist liked it as well:
