Default Lakeside

My first serious foray into HDR, taken from a single RAW exposure which was processed to create 4 jpegs at varying exposures (-2,-1,0,1), and then pushed through Photomatrix. Two tone-mapped images were then produced (using different algorithms) and overlayed in photoshop using Soft Light mode. Then just a touch of curves/sharpening/saturation adjustment to finish.

Lakeside

EXIF of the original was: f/6.3, 1/250s, ISO 100

Thanks for looking.

Martin.

EDIT: Large version on-black is here.

Martin, this is a gorgeous photograph. I love the reflection and I have see the large version on black and that one looks even better and well worth a look to anyone viewing this one. But you never posted the link to that one buddy. Great work my friend.

Jake.

Very nice Martin, I've been messing around a little bit with HDR but, I haven't been satisfied with the results yet. This is really nice. Doesn't look over done to me. Nice work.

Thanks Fred. Yes I've been dabbling for a while and thanks to Bradzo's recent efforts finally took the plunge. In my book there are two types of HDR that work - those that are completely overdone (and therefore more artistic / painterly), and those that just provide lots of detail in a (hopefully) life like image. To be honest I wasn't completely happy with either of the results from Photomatrix at first, which was why I overlayed them in PP. I can't claim credit for that idea though - see http://garmahis.com/tutorials/hdr-tu...free-software/.

Really Nice work Martin! You created a beautiful Landscape that had depth and great detail. It's not over cooked and very well composed.
I just started my foray into HDR, I need to take more landscapes in Raw; I shoot almost exclusively in JPG Large; I've tried using 3 copys of a Jpg in Photo Matirx with different exposure settings, but havn't been too happy with the results. I need to read the tutorial I guess, You know how us guys never like to read the instructions. Oh well, I'll keep trying.
Thanks for Sharing these.
Chewys Dad.

Love this. I'd love to hang something like that on my wall. Well done.

It looks great!

I used photomatix a lot of times, with bad results (acidentally paint-like), and with your method sound tricky, i will try it next time!
