Wink Dandelion Baring All !

I was very naughty yesterday, as I went to Newbury to return a fancy dress item to Pageants, and popped in to the nearby camera shop. I came out with a Nikon 105mm F2.8D AF-S VR II Micro lens !! 'Bad Chicken', as my wife would say.

I nipped over to Penwood and my mind was opened to a whole new world. I took several shots of various bugs that I never would have noticed before ( Note to self: must buy an I-Spy book of bugs! )

I also took a few close ups of some dandelions, and this was my favourite of the day;

Sunburst

I liked the 'haze' effect by the out of focus parts.

My only problem with this new close up thingy is trying to get the focus point just right. Even with a tripod what I thought was in focus on several shots didn't seem to be when I viewd them at home. Perhaps my eyes need checking, or perhaps I just need to play with the aperture a bit more. I have even more to learn about photography now!

The colour is excellent and this is good shot. You will soon get the hang of it and it will be lots of fun. Where are the bugs? You should have posted them too. Can't wait to see more you bad, bad, chicken. lol..

Jake.

Welcome to DPS and congratulations on your purchase. I like your picture, you certainly did get close and as a result the picture seems to have a wave effect, very interesting. I'm with Jakester by the way, lets see the bugs

I really like this version of the Dandelion. Even the little bit of blurryness adds to it. As long as those bug pictures were not of spiders, I am all for seeing them! Spiders and me don't get along...they seem to end up on the bottom of my shoe more often then none!

Post So, the bugs....

OK, I hope it's alright to give you examples via links, I didn't want to attach any large files. For the first two I was using a monopod, if memory serves me correctly. I didn't realise the DoF would be so narrow, so later back at home, I took the other 2 shots with a tripod. The water droplet was inspired by Jake's 'Another World' earlier post. I like yours way more though!

Sorry Rian, I had already thought of this as an example before i saw your reply!
Garden Spider

Water Droplet
I think the droplet was about 1mm in diameter, so maybe I should aim for something a bit bigger !!
