not sure if ive done these justice or not?

well, Lisa - I can certainly see the sun through the tree leaves .. I think you've accomplished what you wanted to do .. it's very interesting

Was the second photo edited in any way? It seems like you just did a tighter crop and contrast was increased along with a edit with the sun rays?, am I correct?

They have both had a bit of tone mapping done. I was also playing with focal lenght when i was taking them.

I think that what you were trying to achieve has worked to perfection in the second of these lovely captures. So, well done you. Very nice work Lisa.
