Hello Haj533,
You know? the original idea for that shot was an HDR, after review the RAWs I decided to make a "natural" version of the shot.

Thanks for your words.

I like both of them but get completely different feels from them. The first one has me marveling at the difference in terrian. The second one makes me feel like I've entered the movie, Mad Max beyond Thunderdome.

HDR is not exactly my favourite technique, but when I saw your HDR road, the only word that came to my mind was: WOW!
It's spectacular, it adds drama to the whole composition. I definitely like it.
Thanks for sharing.

I like neither - the black blob of the first one throws off the balance of the photo. The HDR version is completely overprocessed and way too saturated and contrasty to be realistic. Take a look at Hugin, it's an Open Source program that can produce excellent panorama shots and realisticly looking HDRs.

I like the first one much better. To me HDR looks cartoonish.

It's a really nice image and composition so maybe just try to ease up on the effect as it just doesn't look right at the moment. Looking forward to seeing if you come up with a calmer image. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Hi harrypalmer044,
Thanks for taking the time to write down your review, I really appreciate that.

Thanks for looking.

i am 'into' hdr myself, and have to say that number 2 looks great, but your light smoothing could be increased/adjusted which would help to minimize the halo round the mountains.

great composition though

keep up the good work :-)

I love the 2nd image more! If I may suggest though, you should blend in the best single expsoure for the sky and clouds, just a bit, so you can capture some more natural subtle HDR. To me I think that foreground is to empowering and taking away from the mountains which are perfect in my opinion. But I added a more natural look to the sky and foreground I think you can have a real winner here.
