Default Stepping Backwards

In an effort to simply try something different, and because I'm completely broke & can't afford to buy a new toy to play with, I decided to start playing with the rinky-dink 1.3MP camera on my cell phone.

I discovered that if I stick to black & white, my camera phone doesn't completely suck

Notes: Some post-processing on this one - I had to clone out some overly contrasty rocks & pieces of trash lying in the weeds. And while it is a bit on the dark side, I preferred that (more of a mood thing) to the alternatives. Of course, I'll probably go back at some point and remove the blob in the upper left corner (because it bothers me). Photo was also cropped slightly, to remove excess foreground.

Notes: The only post-processing done on this was to straighten it out a bit.

Wow, I can't believe you shot these with a camera phone! Just goes to show that it really is the photographer and not the camera . . .

I really like that second one. With a "little" post, it would really pop!

I thought about that, and did play around with some ideas, but found I preferred the washed-out look; mostly, I think, because it gives it an almost "old fashioned" feel.

But that's just personal preference I may play around with it this weekend, depending on the weather.
