That must be amazing to just look out and see the lights. I'm very envious.
Zetson, I'm living in northern Germany at the moment, on the Danish border and have considered a trip up to Norway to try and capture images of nothern lights. How far north would I need to get? Would Narvik be far enough? Can you recommend any locations? Thanks Paul

My husband and I went to the Northwest Territories a few years ago. We flew into Yellowknife and then stayed at the Blachford Lake Lodge. Our primary purpose was to photograph the aurora, and we were able to capture some pretty amazing shots. I think we exposed the images for 8 seconds. Because the aurora seems to "dance" through the sky, the longer exposure captured more of the light. We did a lot of research on how to photograph the aurora before our trip, which helped a lot. Just Google "photograph aurora borealis" and you should get some good websites.
Beautiful shot of the aurora!! Christine |
