OK, here is my thought.
I like the first one.

But, to emphasize the earring, maybe you could mask it out and crank it up to be more vibrant and sparkle... much like in the second shot. Not too much, you don't want it weirdly fake. Just punch it up a bit if you have all that tech post processing skill. Worth a try?

Both photos are excellent but I would pick option 2 since it gives out this mysterious presence and is drawn to it..

I would go for number 2, especially for the assignment.

It's a stronger image, as the placement of light and her face close to the edge draws you into the picture. Also, because of the colors, the earring's placement at the focus of the light, and the fact that other possible focal points (like her eyes) dissapear into shadows, the earing definitely stands out, though without screaming for attention. Really great shot! I'm impressed.

I think the first one is better, i guess cos you can see all of the model's face. i think if you have the photo wit RGB colour it might be night in that mode because the colour of the jewel earring would come out much more than in the sepia version.

I like number 2 better. I like the natural colors and I think it highlights the earring more.

I'll vote for the first one . The sepia effect makes it have a misterious felling ...

I also prefer #2. Her skin tone looks very rich and smooth and her earring sparkels beautifully. In #1 her teeth look yellow and the earring looks almost cartooney.

That's just my opinion.
