IMHO, both photographs are beautiful in different ways. Neither seems to allow the product to overshadow the model, however. In the first, I see the beautiful earring, but am constantly drawn over to the models bright, white smile and eyes (then the smile takes me back to the earring, and so on). I think that if the 2nd one had a full shot of the earring that would work. The angle on the earring disappoints (again, it might only be because I can look at it full on in the other pic) and I wind up looking at the photo as a whole. I keep thinking about the 2nd pose if only that earring was turned so we could see the full piece. Even with the coloring of the 1st, maybe with the color on the earring amped up a bit. I love the model's eye in the 2nd. Very beautiful shots!

I prefer number two. Sepia can be great if it either makes a feature of the monochrome or removes an unwanted feature in the colour. In this case, the colour image is nice and simple without any distracting elements, so the sepia doesn't add anything for me. Also, the different composition really makes the earring stand out for me, and that was your intention anyway.

Great shots, both of them.

I like the first one the best, and I think it's because she has a great smile.

Smile Help me pick one

It's about the earring. I'd say the second by a long shot.

I prefer the first one. The second is just a bit too dark for me.

Since the assignment was the earring and not the model I would definitely pick #2.

I like option 1 for the placement of the model on the left. You do notice the model's face though before the earring. If you want more focus on the earring try turning the model's head a little more to the left so you don't see both eyes and bringing the earring out a little more.

Option #2 has better coloring and you notice the ear ring more, but personally I don't care to see all of her cheek. It almost appears to be a cheek with an ear ring as the eye is in the shadow.

In the end I would definitely pick #1. I find this one more seductive and pleasing.
