Default An Off-Camera Flash 52 Project

After being inspired by Dustin Diaz's 365 last year (can't believe he went out and did this EVERY night!), I set myself the much more realistic task (for me) of challenging myself to a portrait per week using off camera flash. Not always of me, not always a full portrait, and in between the final semester of my Masters at uni, paid work, and the normal life, this is going to be an interesting task. As it is, I've already taken 3 photos on the last day of my week... haha. So this is my first four images. I hope you like them. There's links to bigger versions on my Flickr pages (and don't mind comments there, either!), which I highly recommend you check out for the umbrella photo at least!

1/52 --- Bringing In The New Year

2/52 --- Umbrella

3/52 --- Tiny, tiny sparks...

4/52 --- Army Man

Thanks in advance for viewing!

I'll continually update this thread as I progress through the year. Hope you feel like following!

Nice set, Peter! I wish you well on your project -- even one a week sounds ambitious to me. I really love the second one -- beautiful composition.

Thank you, Helen Greatly appreciated. I think the second is one of my best photos yet. I see flaws with it, but I'm headed in a good direction.

Thanks, again, in advance.

Very good work, Peter. I really like #2 - creative and well done. Nos. 1 and 5 hold my attention, too.

My last two weeks have been rather hectic. Fitting the shoots in has been a challenge, but both have been extremely rewarding for me! Here's week 6 and 7!

6/52 --- Dancers

7/52 --- Bob

G'day Zona,

The bokeh in the background is from LED Christmas lights. I set the photos up in my bedroom --- one with a black sheet on my blinds, one with my matress upturned --- with either one or two strings of icicle Chrissy lights before I got round to packing them up for the year More info on setup and lighting can be found on the Flickr page by clicking each image.

Thanks for looking

Links to larger on blacks available at my Flickr.

9/52 --- The Camera Bag That Keeps Giving

10/52 --- Scary Man...

Thanks in advance for looking

Woah. After 5 months, I'll be surprised if you remember me...

My sincerest apologies. The past few months, I've had some major uni dramas, family members have had some health dramas, and, all in and all, I've barely had time to pick up a camera nevermind swing by here.

But I'm going to start making time to come back once a week at least.

My 52 was also seriously affected due to all this stuff going on. I've given up on the one photo a week, and am hoping to just get 52 portraits done by the end of the year. Since I'm sitting at 14, that's unlikely. But, who knows...

Here are the latest three...

12/52 --- Sarah & Jude

13/52 --- A Paper Postcard About Paper...

And, this last, has been Explored over at Flickr! My first image to ever have done so.

14/52 --- 'Ella 'Ella *Explored*

As always, larger versions available at my Flickr by clicking through on the images. Thank you for looking. Especially since I've not been here for so long.

Welcome back to Projects! - I hope that the drams and "stuff" you have had going on is resolved or being resolved - and that you have more time for photography! I always wonder when someone in Projects goes missing as to what has happened to them!

I really LOVE your shot with the umbrella - the white light shining up into the umbrella and the highlights of the lights in the background really make a fantastic picture. Nice work.

I look forward to seeing you continue with your project.
