Red face Second Try at "Vingetting"

After some tinkering and learning my software I believe I have hit upon how to add a vignette to my pictures. However, this appears to work really nicely with sepia and black and white pictures. What are the rules for doing color pictures - how do you choose a color for the vignette?

I like to use a darkened copy of the image (instead of a solid color) in order to preserve detail. I'm pretty sure there was a DPS blog article on that technique at some point. You should be able to find it if you search a bit.

The link I posted in your last thread is a great way to add a vignette to a colour image.

I did read that tutorial, but I am not familiar with that particular software. I have been using (as of recently) The Gimp. I anticipate having Photoshop shortly (xmas) so I will have to relearn everything - at least I'll be somewhat well rounded! HA
