Default Help! B&W processing

I love taking pics of Granddaughter and making them black and white or sepia. I can't get this one right though. It started out as a very bright in the sun pic, I actually love the contrast it has as B&W, but it messes up her skin tone for some reason. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Camera Canon EOS 60D
Exposure 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture f/9.0
Focal Length 49 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Off, Did not fire

I edited it in lightroom and paint shop pro. It makes her arm look like it has a rash.

Ok I redid it with PSE 9 instead. I am a little happier, but I think the biggest problem is I over exposed the shot to begin with, but hey it is a little hard to chase a 2 yr old around a playground and set my camera at the same time.
