Question CS4 for Xmas - now how do I use it?

Hi All,

I was given a copy of CS4 for Xmas - now I just need to learn how to use it!

Does anyone have any advice on the best tutorials / books or courses to do to learn how to use CS4 effectively?

Any local courses in Melbourne, Australia that anyone could recommend would be fantastic as well...

Thanks!

I found this book/CD/Podcast combination to be a very cost effective way to learn. Basically, you read the book, watch a podcast, and work along with the examples on the CD. Very well structured.

Here is a quick tip to get you started...
Press File > Browse in Bridge.
Find the picture and right click > Open in Camera Raw.

Hope that helps! Just play around and do a lot of tutorials. Don't try to learn it all at once either. I've been messing with photoshop for years and I don't know all the tools that well. You will find your favorites. Hope you have fun!

If its for using it for photographic work heres a great link PhotoWalkthrough | Free video tutorials on photography and digital photo editing using adobe photoshop and lightroom.

I use it for the GIMP and will take you through the whole process.

Once you register the software you should get a email from Adobe offering you some freebies. One of those freebies is a one month subscription to Lynda.com.
Take advantage of it.

Default Kelby Training

I have CS3 and use a book from Scott Kelby - I did a search on google for you -

Amazon.com: The Adobe Photoshop CS4 Book for Digital Photographers (9780321580092): Scott Kelby: Books

I have found this to be an extremely user friendly reference to use.

I have all but given up on photoshop. I am a near pro with Lightroom but just don't seem to have the stamina to learn photoshop. I find the learning curve super steep and if I don't use it for a while I have to start all over.
