Resizing for the web

Is there a general way most people resize their images for posting on the web? I would be mainly working with multiple photos at a time. Is this something I could do when I export them from lightroom, or is there a better way to do it in CS4 to optimize the final look of the images?

You can make an action for photoshop to resize and run that on a batch.

Resizing is probably about 75% of why I maintain a Flickr Pro account.

I used to do it via the command line in Linux and, once I had the process figured out it was just a case of typing in a short command with some arguments and it did it for me. It was trivial to apply the process to a whole batch of pictures. However, that then meant I ended up having to manage a large and a small copy of the image for my website.

I think Flickr does a perfectly acceptable job of making my images available in a useful range of sizes and so now I just upload there instead.
