Default Resizing for web

When you resize images for posting on the web, how are you doing this? I currently export a batch from lightroom and resize as I export, creating a file just for web images.

I have heard others actually have a process in photoshop to sharpen, flatten, addin ga layer for luminosity, etc. Is this necessary?

I'd love to hear what everyone else does, and why.

I just got an action from MCP actions that resizes and sharpens for the web. It's really great! HUGE time saver. After I run the action, I save it in a seperate folder.

I would go for the photoshop, as it can provide you complete freedom to edit your images like resizing, cropping, customizing etc.

I actually use both photoshop (cs4) and Lightroom and you can crop and edit in Lightroom as well. Since I can work with batches in Lightroom is seems to make sense to resize for the web when exporting from there. I am sure you can batch edit in CS4 I just haven't figured out how to do this yet

You can batch edit in PS. File>Automate>Batch> set it to whatever you want. You can also do it through Bridge, which is the route I prefer: Select the files that you want>Tools>Photoshop>Image Processor. That is how I batch edit with the action I showed you above. I use the Image Processor, set it to that action, and then set it to save in whatever folder I want it to go to. It's really easy.

That sounds wonderfully easy and I will be playing around with it tonight. I downloaded the action from MCP actions and haven't used it yet. Looking forward to it.

Have a great holiday!

I use Lightroom, I like that when I export I can pick the file format the ppi and I can also sharpen for web. If you really get into Lightroom you will find out that you can export images to a folder and then have photoshop run an action on them. But really I think its what program you are used to using.
