Default good editing software

I was wondering if there is a website that does good photo editing for free? I plan to buy one (still wondering which one is best that doesn't cost a fortune) but I have to wait until I get an external hard drive for all the pictures that I take.

Thanks!

I will second GIMP. It has more capability than I can use, for sure, and there are a lot of tutorials etc. on the web.

well, if I were you, I would first think really hard on what you're going to do with it and what are you needs. I always recommend Aperture (Mac) for anyone who wants to do some serious work with photography - it's not an online tool but online editing is somehow limited as it doesn't give you a proper work flow with your files and doesn't allow to set up photo-groups, archives, etc.

I am looking to upgrade now but I use Picasa and I think it does a pretty good job, it's easy to use AND it's free!

I see ALOT of folks on here use GIMP. It's free and from what I hear, very much like photoshop. You know. Complicated. ; )

Hi,

I was wondering why we don't have a GIMP sub-forum here. It would be great to be able to share GIMP tips and tutorials here!
