Notes in Lightroom

I'm not sure if this feature exists, but I thought I would ask anyway, as I am new to Lightroom. Is there a way to add notes to photos in Lightroom? When I import photos, the first step is to go through and do an initial pass to flag the photos I like, then I go through that list and eliminate the one's I don't like. From my final group of photos, I go through and make a list of changes that need to be done to each photo. It would be nice to have this embedded with the picture information, rather than have a seperate list.

If there is a notes function then I haven't found it. You could just use keywords though as its effectively a free text field.

A lot of people use star ratings on colour flags to indicate various things about the photos as well.
