Default Re-sizing images in bulk

Does anyone know of some software (preferably Mac OSX) which can re-size images in bulk? I take my photos in the largest possible size meaning each image is very large in file size.

For purposes of uploading entire albums onto sites like Flickr there is no need for the files to be that big. Any suggestions for re-sizing these images in bulk, quickly and easily?

Adobe Lightroom makes this easy for batch resizing - there are even plug-ins that can resize and export selections direct to Flickr (e.g. Jeffrey Friedl's export plug-ins).

Thanks, I'll look into Lightroom. In the mean time I did a little google job and found SmallImage2 which did an ok job, simple and easy to use, worth a go if any one else needed to do the same thing.

I use GraphicConverter. It's not free, but it's much cheaper than Lightroom, and it also can still do batch conversions in "shareware" mode (i.e., you can use it without paying, if you don't mind waiting 15 seconds while it starts up).

If you are only re-sizing for flickr then you could just use the flickr uplaoder. Its an app from the flickr people that uploads you images to flickr without having to go to the site and select the photos from there, it can also do basic resizing prior to upload.

Me I just use Lightroom. I wouldn't get it if I only wanted to re-size though.

if its is just for batch resize and batch conversions then why not try irfanview its freeware light on resources and size and will do all sorts of batch conversion from resizing, converting file type, renaming.

The screen looks a bit daunting but its a powerful batch tool if thats all your ater. If you want the full image editing part too then like the others suggested try lightroom

I never knew it could do this, but it's true! Just select the pictures you want to resize, go to File - Export - File Export - Change "Size" to medium or small.

Very handy! I've been using ReSize (a free resizing program), but this is much easier!

this is not for macs but others looking for a similar program might like this freeware.
You can resize, add borders and frames, watermark/copywrites etc...and do it all individually or in batch.
