As an "old school" photograpger, I learnt photography with film. Exiting times were had. My question (having switched to digital) is: We use to do a dark room technique called "Color tone seperation" whereby the original color neg was copied onto a range of exposures using ortho chromatic film. This was re copied on ortho and various combinations of the negs and posies were used in register and color was added making multiple exposures onto color film. Can this technique be duplicated in photoshop?

Firstly, let me welcome you to DPS. I hope your stay is a long one. The answer to your question is yes. But the caveat is that it will not be labeled as such in CS4. And I vote your post for best typo of the week. "Exiting times were had". This had me laughing on the floor. Don't take it the wrong way as I am sure you didn't mean to put it up that way. And as your name is Pieter I would suspect that english is not your native language. Forgive me if it is. I mean no insult.
