Default Sun Glare

Could someone please give me some advice on how to get rid of the sun glare on my nephews face. Unfortunately the lighting conditions were harsh. Because they are positioned in the tree I couldn't get him to move forward out of the sun. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for post production that would improve the image I have taken.
Thanks
Kim

Ideally it is a shot that would have been taken at a different time of day. You could apply some measure of fix in post processing though, especially if you have a image editing program that can deal with things like layers and curves.

What program do you use?
