Default Gimp?

I'm in urgent need of an editing programme but don't have the money for photoshop but a friend mentioned Gimp, and I wondered if anyone has used it and if so, what their thoughts are. Also, is it 'above board' as I'm not really into breaking the law . And, finally, can I use it on a Mac?

Thanks in advance
Natalie

Gimp is a free software, anyone can download. Download Gimp, and UFRaw (also free and compatable with gimp). You can learn how to use gimp at meet the gimp. There are over 100 video's on how to use it. Forgot, yes you can use it on a mac.

It does most everything PS can do. PS tutorials also mainly work with GIMP (With a few tweaks sometimes). You can search for tutorials on youtube but I would also recommend googling "GIMP tutorials". The way I learned GIMP was by just pressing buttons. Once you get the hang of it, it is a breeze to use. Good luck and have fun!

Love it, love it, love it! It's a bit tricky to get working on a mac, but very do-able. Make sure you have the most up-to-date X11 application because it has to run in conjunction with X11. You can download it HERE.
