Hi all, I am new here and only signed up a couple days ago and this has become my favorite website now. Lots of great info and I love looking at eveyone's photos.
My question is I just realized that I can scan negatives with my scanner and tried it out on this picture I took in 97. I love the picture but it needs some help. I wonder if anyone can do anything to make this a better looking picture or am I out of luck since it came from a cheapo camera many years ago. Thanks. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...y/SCAN1542.jpg |

Hi and welcome to DPS. You know, with the software we have now, almost anything can be done. I copied your scan and did a little work on the bottom part of the image. This is what I came up with:
![]() There was not much to work with in the sky. There just isn't enough data there to refine. I just took out the entire sky and replaced it with a stock photo I have of a nice blue sky with white clouds. So it looks like this: ![]() What do you think?

I kept the original sky, but changed it up a bit.
I also did an unsharp mask and messed with the color levels on the truck to bring out a few details (I recognize this created a bit of a halo around the truck, but my did my selecting very quickly. If it was done carefully, you wouldn't get the halo.). Did a small Gaussian blur on the mountains so the eye would be drawn more to the truck. I personally would recommend cropping the picture, but didn't do so because I wasn't sure if you'd want the whole landscape in or not.
