Default Question for the professionals

What percentage of your photographs go into clients hands completely unedited? Though not a professional (yet), I am a perfectionist and I am having a hard time getting over the pp hurdle. The one that says all photos could use a little pp.

Zero- all images need some post processing-no matter the camera, or lens. If you doubt, enlarge to actual pixels (100%)

Very little... Some clients will do their own PP - but not many...

I've had one in about 100...

as already stated none of my photos go out with out retouching. Although some go out with minimal retouching. Generally those are just proofs.

0% go out to our clients unedited.

They can always ask but when we tell them how much it costs (think very large numbers) then they usually tell us to forget it hehe.

One person that I would give unedited pics to, free of charge, is my sister and only because she's a photographer and can post process pics too.

I agree with Ken - ZERO. Every photo you wish to be paid for needs looking at very carefully. Many photographers, pro's and amateurs alike, forget to look around the viewfinder before they take the shot. This often results in something unforseen appearing in the shot. Might be small like a twig, cigarette butt or branch in the shot. Correcting verticals or horizons is another thing. I understand that every digital shot taken is always slightly softer than we see. Therefore, I sharpen EVERY image I print or upload to the web. Highly recommend Pixel Genius Sharpener Pro.
Hope this helps and answers your query. Best of luck.

I dont even let the proof go uneditied. My proofs look the same way they do when they are done for final printing to hand tothe client.

That is a heck of a lot of extra work.... I would never do that. For my proofs I just batch edit adjust color contrast, white balance and sharpening. Final works get between 30mins to several hours of retouching work each. If I had to do that for all the proofs I think I would be glued to the computer 24-7

Na it doesnt take me that long.

Now this is for portrait sessions, not weddings or anything, but still I do all the work to them before I put them on my website. I dont want them to see it, then me tell them ok they are not done in the pp stage, and they would think, ok what will they look like when they are done, do I want to order them.

I try to get most of it right in camera and it doesnt take me long.

Also i dont do shoots everyday. I might one week, then the next I dont do any. I am a stay at home mom , so I just do it when i want.

Now if I ever open a studio, I might not to the PP first. Hopefully by then I wont have to do any but may sharpen them or what ever.
