Nikons shoot direct to 300DPI.. mine does anyway.
heres my problem. When I usedto shoot JPEG+RAW, the JPEG files ALWAYS came SOOC with 300DPI. I’ve been shooting only RAW recently, and have noticed that when “opening” from ACR into Photoshop the files have been coming out at 240DPI What on earth could be going wrong?? It’s a pain in the bum to have to re-sample every image I want to upload to a stock site to 300DPI, when the camera shoots generically, out the box, direct to 300DPI. What could I be doing in ACR incorrectly could it be an 8, 12, 24 bit issue???

excellent, thanks for that.
i'll check it out and see if i can find what you're speaking of. you're right, i meant i dont like to wast time going to "resize" the image. i dont actually re-sample unless i'm changing the actual size. the problem is the stock site i use is exclusivley 300DPI ...so every dang picture for the last month or so has had another "step" thrown in the mix. i appreciate your input.

The DPI that is tagged to the file really has no meaning. If you give the printer an image that is 3000 pixels by 1500 pixels (as an example) then if they print it at 300 DPI then the print will be 10" by 5", if they print it at 150 DPI then it will be 20" by 10".

well, it does matter in this case,
simply because the stock site i upload to automatically rejects anything that is not exactly 300DPI. i agree that it has no meaning.. its easy to change the DPI. its just a technical requirement by my stock site... thats the way they market their images.
