When you ask "How do I make the back solid?" I don't understand what you mean. Isn't the back already a solid black color?

well, overall, yes. its black. but I mean I can still see the ripple in the fabric on the top left side - I know in some programs you can just click a button and the whole background will go to the darkest color. I just don't know how to do that in PSE.

I'd be interested to know how too! But I think you would need to make a selection of the background and then darken that, probably by using the curves tool and just pulling the middle down. However its going ot be a nightmare to get the background selection right as the fabric of the tutu is blending into the background, so you wont have a sharp edge to select. You might want to do an layer with a gradient mask instead.

I use Gimp, but it works for just about any software. Since most of your background is already black (and I'm assuming you want it all black), you could use the clone tool and clone in the black where you want it. Or you can make a selection and fill it with black.

Here is the retouch i just did.
To make the background completely black...I usually burn the background with the burn tool untill i get the result that i want. I did alittle skin smoothing and lower eye highlights as well.
another way to do it is to make a selection with one of the selection tools and fill it with black, then feather the selection to give a better result...
I also adjusted the WB....

here is the pic
