Default Saving various file sizes in Photoshop

Hi all ..

I just completed an order for a client (only a few I've had now) and I'm looking to streamline my PP work. Currently I do all of my PP on the original file and save it as a .psd. Then open this file, resize to 6X4 save that as a new .jpg. Then I do a "Step Backward" to get back to the original file size and resize to 5X7 and save that as a new .jpg. I continue this process for all of the sized photo's I need. Then I close the .psd file without saving the changes so I have the original large file size retouched version always. Note .. I also have to create proofs of the images for my online gallery!

I thought I recalled somewhere in Scripts or Automate, that there is the ability to save my original .psd file to various sized files in one step??

Any thoughts??

Ok ... Still looking for some advice on this one but I thought of something..

Do I even need to save each sized photo separately? If I upload a file sized to 8x10 fir example and then select to print a 6x4 (this is on the photo lab website) they will show you online if any cropping will occur right there. They will also warn you the resolution is acceptable. I guess I originally started saving the varios sized image files separately so I could control the crop?

So can I just sharpen my final merged layer and upload the one file for printing?

It is possible to go with your second post as long as the website lets you choose where to have the crop. I'm not sure if there even are any sites out there any more that tell you that your picture will be cropped but won't let you move it (although I have seen complaints about sending photos from Flickr to Target and not getting to choose the crop).

Short answer, yes, as long as the site lets you choose the crop you shouldn't have to save lots of different sizes.

Not sure about the answer to your first one since I wouldn't think it could be easily automated since you would always want to adjust the crop.

You can set up an action to do all that for you.

In the HISTORY window (window: history) it's a separate tab. CLick record and everything you do, the software will repeat. So just do it as normal, then hit stop. The only problem you may have is that when you use SAVE AS the software will constantly re-save as whatever name you put it as.
