Default which do U use for Software for batch edit?

Hi everyone,

I have some question here, being new to photo shoot i use mainly picasa 3 for editing my picture. Adobe Photoshop is still to complicated for me and costly to buy since i'm still an undergraduated students. So I was wondering what alternative software do you use other than photoshop especially for batch edit (software automatically edit for multiple photo)? I also found that picasa 3 introduce a lot of noice in the photo when it is edited. So my next question is how reduce noise in photo before editing? Is it true than some lens can also introduce noise in photo?

Thank you for reading

I use Canon DPP for editing and RAW conversion, then Paint Shop Pro X2 for any other type of editing I want to do.

DPP comes with the Canon camera so it's free and Paint Shop Pro is a it cheaper than Photoshop and does more than Elements.

I use Lightroom. Of course it's not that cheap either.
Try some free trials before buying anything.

I use a mixture of Elements 7 and a free program called Faststone Image Viewer. If I want to batch resize pics to put them on the web (or put them on a cd to give to a friend), I'll use faststone, otherwise it's PSE7.

Linux users can use tools from the ImageMagick suite. Before I discovered Flickr as an easy way to get my images for online sharing at multiple sizes (with lots of other benefits), I used to run a little script that created thumbnails for my website.

Post Photoshop and students

Look into Photoshop discounts for students. I think all you do is show proof somehow that you are indeed a student and you can get the software at discount.
