Default Manging files.

So if I shoot 1000 pictures and they are all in raw how do you manage all of them? Because I have to use photoshop to edit them then reconvert to Jpeg to post a Facebook and stuff like that and that would take forever to do..

What version of Photoshop/Camera Raw are you using?

You should be able to open them all at once and use a batch process on them. Just highlight the ones you want to open, right click > open. They'll be on a list on the left, a preview of the selected one in the middle and the sliders on the right. If you select more than one from the list on the left, you can use the sliders on the right for all of them at once.

I was having a similar question I suppose. I am also new to RAW, I have CS3 and Camera RAW. Can I download the RAW images onto disks to process at a later date or do they have to sit on my hard drive until I find the time to work with them, convert them, and then burn them?

Thanks for any help.

If you're not averse to spending a little bit of money, Adobe Lightroom and Apple Aperture are great for organizing and toning images, both raw and jpeg. You can batch caption and keyword, apply edits to any or all of the photos in a collection; it's really useful.

Alternately, you could develop a folder system and use Bridge/Photoshop, but you must stick to the system you come up with, or you'll end up losing stuff in the mess.

Raw files are like any other file, you can drag, burn, copy, whatever. I'd strongly suggest getting an external hard drive or three for your image library. It'll get really big really fast, and you'll probably want read/write access to your files in the future, which optical discs don't provide.

Thank you Jamie! I will be looking into a hard drive or three.
