You can start with Adobe TV.

Then a few good books

Then PLAY with it !

In the Develop module this is best done by creating virtual copies in the Library module. LR works by storing any 'changes' you make into a database (aka the catalog) this means that the virtual copies store multiple copies of the settings for the same image. Now you can try different 'treatments' of the same image, then use the Compare facility within the Library module to get a feel all the controls in the Develop module.

One tip to help speed up your work flow rate is to choose a representative image from a group that have the same lighting conditions within a shoot - 'Develop' that image - then in the Library module select the above group of images & use the Sync Settings button. The resulting images can still be modified in the Develop module + you can always go back to the 'Import' in the History if you want to start over.

Above all ENJOY

Im with you there , tho have played with it a bit lately and am getting better at using it, I dont know why they make it so much more complicated to get your images so you can edit them than it really should be

The editing part of LR is cake walk, but i guess im trying to understand the actual work flow portion.

What i do now - copy pics from sd card to specified folder on C drive. (folders have date ranges), then open images i want in CS3 and edit, save, done.

Im lost on the part of importing images into LR. Do i need place them into a folder on the C drive first. or can i import them straight from the sd card.??

Ive tried tutorials but i guess the questions i have are not being answered by those tutorials.

When you import directly from the SD card there is an option to create a folder on your hard drive - in fact you can even make a second copy to an external drive at the same time as a backup.

I create a folder for each year i.e. 2009 & then preface the sub-folder 0901aaaaaaa 0902aaaaaaa this means that I find images quickly both in LR2 & the OS. I have some std folders each month - 0903Out&About, 0903Macro, 0903workevents & then create specific folders for a larger shoot - 0903Jack90th, 0904PB70th.

I also use the facility to change the filename on import - changing imgxxxxx to 40Dxxxxx or A6Cxxxxxx depending on the camera this ensures unique filenames.
