Default Favourite (small) image manipulation program?

Hi all,

I had recently purchased a netbook (hp mini) and is wondering if anyone has experience with using image manipulation programs on a low spec machine.

I'm looking for a small program (preferably free) that I can do quick touchups on my photos.

Any recommendations?

Cheers.

What operating system are you using? Gimp is a farily lightweight alternative to PS if cost is a concern. It runs pretty well on my wife's Dell Mini9 and is available for Windows and Linux.

Apparently GIMP does work with the Atom processor. A quote from a review article here: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/03...140/page4.html

We also ran our usual Gimp test, with the Mini 2140 managing to apply the Gaussian Blur in an average of 5.2 seconds – pretty fast, and comparable with models such as the Samsung NC10 and Toshiba NB100.

I don't know if I'd want to do a lot of complex editing, but I think it would do fine for cropping, resizing and perhaps slight touch ups.

You could check Bibble, it isn't free, but it's an amazing piece of software and I also use it (abeit slowly on 8 MB RAW files) on my netbook (with Intel Atom proc)

Check out Faststone - it's free & some of the basics in it - can read RAW images. I used as an images browser & it has a good slideshow facility.
