Default Vintage help...

Hey everyone!
I really love this vintage look some people manage to get to their photos. I have looked up tutorials, but nothing reaaallly gets me there. Anyhow, I was playing a bit with this one to try some different techniques...

I played with curves, color balence, brightness/contrast...ummm, and I think thats about it

So here's what I came up with, just wondering if you guys might have some tips to better it...I have now stared at it for too long and its looking weird! Don't you hate it when that happens!?

Thanks everyone!
Tonya

Its almost got a cross processed look but woud need a bit of green in it.
The one thing I see when people try to make photos look vintage is other than color the condition of the image is as if it were shot yeterday. Try and remember cameras weren't as good the contrast might be washed out a bit a bit of distressing maybe.....even as far as the majority not be as sharp.
Its a nice shot though....I like the subjects and the DOF.

You can also try to desaturate the original, add just a little bit of noise then on another layer do the sepia treatment to it but turn down the opacity to about 30ish or so. You'll have to tweak the opacity on the sepia layer. This technique sometimes gives an old photo type feel to it.

I love that look as well and this might be a little help or none at all but I will throw it in the pot.

Try to have two copies of the original open....use one as your "play with". Try a color overlay, play with that a bit. Soft light, overlay, opacity, tones, till you get something you like. Then bring over the other original and play with it. Do a soft light, or adjust the opacity, you can even try lightly erasing areas to expose what is under (usually best if hte original is under the 'played with' layer so you are erasing areas of the new image and revealing the original.) I am trying to achieve the same thing and am struggling to nail it. So I am attempting to come up with my own variation and style.

I love this guys work and imagination (he is one of my inspirations). THIS is the look I would love to learn to recreate but with my own twist. The closest I have come is by using variations of the above.

First thing I notice is ...

... there's nothing vintage in the photo. So the vintage 'look' might be done quite well but still seem out-of-place.
