Question loosing color...what the???

Hi all great forum you've all got here. I'm kind of new to the scene of photography. This is my first post, so sorry if this question has been asked before. I get the the frequent news letters and the How to Make a Photo Collage Banner for Your Photoblog or Website

Read more: "Post Production Tips" - http://digital-photography-school.co...xzz0CrKUjfWv&A

and everything started well. By the way, I'm using Photoshop CS3. Got the base created and opened the pictures I wanted to use and then it happened...I copied and pasted the picture onto my banner and the picture went black and white. I changed no colors or options, it just lost color. Is this user error or a common mistake (did you say steak?) or is this just a weird phenomenon?

I guess it started last night when my girlfriend and I were creating something for work, had it all done and went to duplicate in onto a larger page. Merged layers (had color) copied and pasted onto larger page and POOF all color gone, just went gray scale on me.

Looking forward to hearing from someone. I would really like to know how to get this right.

New here,
Frank

Sorry you are not getting any help on this one. I have never experienced or heard of this happening.
I tried searching for an aswer and couldn't find one anywhere.
You might want to try asking this in a flickr group or it night even be worth trying to send Scott Kelpby this as a message on flickr..... Igot lucky and he answered a question I aske him a while back. He is an authority in photoshop so might have heard of his happening.

Hope you can find some help...I'll keep looking.

Hi Frank,

Two things to check. First click on the Image menu and pull down to Mode and verify that the document is not listed as Greyscale or Bitmap.

Once you verify that the document is a color document (with I am assuming that it still is) you can then check to see if you have turned off Channels.

Try using the Command ~ keyboard shortcut (Control ~ on Windows) and see if the color doesn't magically reappear.

Not that I am speaking from experience or anything...
In Adobe products, Command 0 makes the window fit on screen, and in programs other than Photoshop, Command 1 makes it actual size. In Photoshop, Command 1 shows the Red Channel only. (Command 2 is the Green Channel, Command 3 is the Blue Channel and Command ~ is all Channels.)

*** Now after I wrote this, I just found out that Adobe corrected this in CS4. Now Command 0 makes the window fit on screen and Command 1 makes the window actual size. ***
