Thumbs up raw program

I have been looking at a few different raw programs. I am not into a lot of post computer processing so all I really wanted was a program that just adjusted my white balance, my brightness and could make Black and white photos in batch lots. After some research I have settled on the free program called Raw Therapee. It does everything I want it to do. I am very impressed with it.

May I ask what camera you are using? I ask as I couldnt find anywhere which raw settings will work with the program. I have the Olympus E-520 and am having a dickens of a time trying to find a porgram I like that will work the raw files

A list of some free Raw Converters that all work, and each having its good or bad points.

Stepoke's

Raw Therapee

RawShooter (bought out by Adobe and dumped)
http://download.cnet.com/RawShooter-...-10374172.html

I can compile a bigger list, just put this together quickly.

I own a Pentax K20D, however, I looked at the raw therapee manual and according to that it should be able to handle your cameras Raw setting. It states that it can handle the raw settings from the following Olympus cameras:

Olympus C3030Z, C5050Z, C5060WZ, C7070WZ, C70Z, C7000Z, C740UZ, C770UZ, C8080WZ, E-1, E-3, E-10, E-20, E-300, E-330, E-400, E-410, E-420, E-500, E-510, SP310, SP320, SP350, SP500UZ, SP510UZ SP550UZ

So I guess you could give it a try to see if you like using it.

I found at first it took me a bit to work it out (like all programs you have to get use to it), but after reading the manual and having a look at the forum I have worked out things ok.

there just hasnt been anything i have found that works with the e-520 except the program that came with it. Frankly that porgram sucks. It is beyond even super slow and has extremely limited options.
I am going to check out those posted above tho, thank you for offering them. will et you know if they work

One of the drawbacks of buying one of the most proprietory systems in the world. Lots of software supliers have complained to olympus but they remain a closed shop. Will eventually be their undoing.

Aperture Nine suggested converting the raw image to dng. This will work, I had an Olympus before I got rid of it (or it got stolen) and I converted all my images to dng because I did not like Silkypix. Dng format will work with most converters.

Raw Therapee is probably the better of the converters listed as long as you can put up with the error messages when it loads as the website no longer exists. Probably one good thing about it is that Adobe based Lightroom on it, though they don't look the same.

Oh no, you will get no such error messages in Rawtherapee. Both program and its website are very much alive.

You are talking about Rawshooter.

The best of Rawshooter is now part of ACR and Lightroom. I don't think they based Lightroom on it, but certain "technologies" from Rawshooter were used in Lightroom (fill light fx) together with the expertise from the programmers who are now part of the ACR staff, as far as I know.

Sorry, meant Rawshooter. RawTherapee is ok, but not as good as Raw Shooter. And that is proved by the fact that it was adopted by Adobe for Lightroom features.
