Default realy frustrated, please help

Hi all.
Im new here and need help with Photoshop CS3 or my computer.

The problem is when I edit photos most when saved stay in Jpeg format, but some are converting to a file format, then I cant reopen them in Photoshop.

Also I want to start shooting in Raw but photoshop wont open them either.

For both Photoshop keeps saying 'Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document'

Please does anyone know what to do?

I was just looking through some older post and found that someone else was having the same (i think) problem, and it was suggested to her to click Image - Mode then make sure its on RGB.
Is that what i have to do? and will I have to check this with every photo before saving?

Also with the last 2 times I have closed down photoshop the message 'could not export the clipboard because there is not enough memory (RAM)' has come up. Does anyone have a clue about that?

What file format are the photos saved as? PSD? If you add layers to a photo and try to save it without flattening the image, Photoshop will save it as a PSD file. You will find the flatten command in the Layers menu.

Can you "Save As" a JPG? Does this option show up in the dialog box?

The real question is what file format is Photoshop using to save your images.

what type of camera do you shoot with? i know the canon DSLR cameras come with DPP on a CD and that's great for converting raw files to jpg or tiff, both of which can be used in PS.

sorry about the late reply.
I worked the jpeg/file situation. Photoshop was saving it as a copie which was saving it in file format.

Old wolf - I have a Nikon D60. If I use the software that it came with will that solve my RAW problem?
