I started out with PSE-3 and slowly evoled to more advanced editing software. Today I use Nikon Capture NX-2, Lightroom-2 and PSE-7 or CS-3. Probably 98% of the time I use PSE-7 and Lightroom 2. I used to use NX more often but the workflow in Lightroom is so easy and straightforward and intuitive. The Printing module in LR beats any other program out there. I purchased LR-1 with my daughters teachers discount for $99 and just recently upgraded to LR 2 (with a coupon discount of 15%) for $79. Best investment I have made in a long time. If you know a teacher or student you can get their discount then upgrade PSE-4 to PSE-7 when it becomes availabe for a MAC platform. I just recently upgraded from PSE-5 to PSE-7 for $49 with instant discount and upgrade coupon from Staples. PSE-7 is a better (IMHO) version of elements then ^.
Hope this helps. Eddie

I am a HUGE paint shop pro fan. I would suggest taking full advantage of using trial periods for the different programs and see which one you like best

This is the money no object option but as far as I am aware there are some basic things you wouldn't be able to do if you only had one of them. (CS4 if for image editing, LR2 is for photography but not advanced editing). If you've got the money go for it.
If not PSE6 is a great cheap alternative that can do fairly advanced editing (although not in the CS4 league), image orgainisation and batch processing of RAW files (although not as well as LR2). And all this for 10% of the price. |

I figured it out and yes it works. You actually have to fill in all the information once instead of doing this in every photo? Thats what I did in PSE6.
How do you get your signature on the photo for the web, as it does in slideshow? |

I would definitely go with CS4 which comes with Adobe Bridge which is excellent for organizing your photos. I know it's around $700.00, but you get a raw editor, Photoshop and Adobe Bridge. It's all you will need for a long time.

My wife just bought me a Canon 50D for Christmas. But now PSE6 won't let me edit the camera RAW files. I went to the Adobe site and upgraded to the latest version of camera raw, but it still won't open the raw files. So I downloaded a trial version of PSE7 only to experience the same problem. Then when I contacted Adobe they tell me they don't offer tech support for trial versions. I really like PSE, but I don't want to spend money on a product that may not work for me. Does anyone have any experience with their Canon 50D and PSE6 or PSE7?
My operating system is Windows Vista Home. |
