I thought I should post this question here, being this is the Post Processing thread....
Do any of you use one of these and what model did you get? I didn't know there were so many models of these out there! My son said he would get me one for Christmas, but I don't know which one to steer him to. I also didn't want him to spend a lot of money on one either. I would be using it with Photoshop CS3.

I have this one http://www.wacom.com/bambootablet/bamboo.php That I love using. Works well, not too big, not too small. Pretty good price. I got it last year for Christmas.

I use the Wacom Intuos 3 tablet. It is great. The one I use is pretty big 8x12 I think but they have all sorts of different sizes I would recommend getting a decent sized one because the small ones are really hard to use. If you really want to go all out then the Cintiq tablets are AWESOME but are pretty darn expensive. If I was doing graphics work professionally I would definately have a Cintiq.
Wacom also makes cheaper tablets as well such as the bamboo line.

professionals like matt kosklowski and Scott Kelby recommend a 6x8....
I have a intuos also and love it but the bamboo line is fine for normal use. Arm motion plays a part in why the largest is not always the best. Some don't mind the long swings to get back and forth on the tablet but most like the smaller movements since it enables longer sessions on the tablet.

I have the 6x8 Bamboo Fun.
I don't use it alot but when I have a task that is best suited for a tablet, it works fantastic. It's also nice to use while sitting back and relaxing while surfing the net.

I'd be interested if anyone has moved from a Graphire to a larger sized Intuos? I've owned one of the original Graphires for years, and tried a mid sized Intuos recently, and found it awkward.
No doubt you'd get used to it, but I don't really have any problems with my very old Graphire - I'd just like an excuse to upgrade it.

Everyone, Thank You!
All your response's have helped me. I really had no idea they had so many models out there. I also didn't know they were so expensive. But it also helped me know which one's photographers use. I wouldn't have any idea what kind to buy. I would really like the larger ones. But I think I'll have to wait. I don't want my son to have to spend that kind of money on his Mom. It's a Mom thing...

I use a small Graphire3. I believe it is 4x6. For me it works great for retouching photos and it doesn't take up too much space on my desktop.
You might not want to use a small tablet for a graphics design project, but for editing photos, it works fine. The prices of the current generation Bamboo tablets are quite reasonable too! |

I have the Bamboo fun as well and really enjoy iy. I find that it is much easier than the mouse for editing once you get used to it.
