Default Antique Your Digital Images

Over at the blog this week Elise has published a great tutorial (in two parts) on making digital images look old (antique).

I thought it'd be good to have a spot for members to post examples of the results they achieved with the technique.

So head over and read the tutorial (part 1 and part 2) - follow the steps and show us what you come up with!

Feel free to post both your original and photoshopped versions

I didn't feel like doing the step 2 part on this one. It's not one of those effects that works on everything. So I made a frame for it and did that instead.

This is a bit of a rushed attempt and as I have Elements some of the processes I had to find other ways of doing.

Wow, I love this process! I am having trouble with the gradient instructions, though, I just don't get how to use that thing properly or what that step is supposed to look like.

Do you mean the gradient for the layer mask on the blur layer?

The point of this whole step is to make it look like the pic has a very shallow depth of field. You duplicate the original layer, then give it a good gaussian blur. Watch the background of your pic until it's about as blurred as you like. Next, add a layer mask. Select the gradient tool, and make sure that it's radial, going from black to white. You start from the focal point of the img and drag out. This should result in the focus of the img being pretty sharp and the area around it being out of focus.

If that's the step you were confused about, I hope this helps.
