Default Colour Help

I am not sure if anyone else has had a similar problem, but I have tried to fix it to no avail. I use PS CS on my Notebook to process all my photos and do all my digital scrapping. I have calibrated the notebook monitor, but it’s not as easy as a CRT because you are limited to what adjustments you’re able to make.

My problem lies with the photos that I have on my notebook are edited and look great, but if viewed from a desktop (or CRT) monitor they appear to have an orange cast over them. Suddenly skin tones for instance end up looking like they have had a bad bottle tan done. I have never noticed this on any of my prints before so I am not sure if it’s just the one CRT monitor or not! It even appears to affect the jpg pics that are straight from Camera that were not edited in PS. I have tried to understand the whole colour management and profiles for ps, but am boggled, and I am not convinced that its a PS problem.

Any suggestions??

Hi beezwax: You have hit upon one of the toughest things that I've been reading about. Photography & printing & viewing on the web & Monitor calibrating & on & on & on.... It got mind boggling to me. My prints come out just slightly darker than they show on my monitor, but I can deal with it. In your case I would have to assume that it's just that 1 crt monitor. Your pictures that you have posted on this site look absolutely wonderful. I just went back & looked at a few. Sleeping Kitty, the nose was perfectly pink in that one. There also was one of a zebra that had perfectly white stripes.

One thing that I can think of off hand is, maybe its the program your using to view the pics? Try using a different program like Picassa or something similar. See if you can get the pics onto a different computer & view them on there. Sorry I can't help anymore than that.
