I agree with Osmosis, you may be best to back up all your existing data and reinstall windows.

And Steve's theory is a good one as well.
In other words.."who f'n knows? Its windows!" LOL!

Thanks to all of you for all your help. I think the registry repair program did work. I went out and took some pictures today, and it's saving them just fine-- as PSD or JPEG. But I think I'm going to format the drive, anyways--just to be sure. Once again, I thank you all for taking the time to help.

Steve, you must enlighten me here. Are you saying that I shouldn't be using Windows? I'm not a computer expert. The only reason I started using computers, it's because in this day and age, it'd be almost impossible to do photography without them. So, I need you to explain to me in plain English, please.

Nah, he was making a jab at Microsoft. They truly do sell you a black box. I gave a shotgun approach to the issue you described and Steve made a salient comment on the fact that in such a situation there is really no cut and dried explanation because the responders do not have assembly language level experience with Windows and its operating system.

Nah, just a jab at Windows like Jim said.

I don't personally like windows, but then again I don't particularly like paying for Apple.
