If you use Picasa web albums, use picasa 9.0 to upload but don't want to upload at 2048px or above.
Picasa 9 just came out recently and the it was a major update, I like using picasa to organize my pictures because it's fast simple and I really like the integration with Picasa web albums because I can quickly share an album, post in a forum, or make the album readily accessible on my android phone. With the new update, Picasa added more filters and changed the way photos are uploaded to web albums. Integration with google + forces me to upload pictures at 2048px or at original resolution. In other words, any resolution below 2048 px is inaccessible. The only way to turn that option off is to turn off google + account. Not being able to upload at 800px or 1024px is really annoying because I like to post blog/forum photos at lower resolutions for faster access and I really don't want to wait a long time to browse through my web galleries on my android phone. How do you get around that hurdle? I created a folder called "blog 2012" with a subfolder called "2012" ![]() chose the picture that you want to post to your blog/forum and "export to folder" from the file menu ![]() The export dialog will come up click browse and select up to the export folder in this case will be "blog 2012" The name of the exported folder will be "2012" CAUTION: if you selected 2012 for your export location then picasa will create a separate folder inside 2012 to export your pictures. In my case, I selected Blog 2012 as export location and folder 2012. This will ensure that picasa exports to the folder tree that I specified and not create its own. Select the pixels you want and export. ![]() In picasa, browse to the folder 2012 and sync that folder with picasa web albums, and you are all set! it is not as easy as a direct upload to webalbums but I found it to be a reasonable work around. ![]() If there is a better way I would love to hear it.
