Default Help with Canon post processing.

Right now I am using ZoomEx Browser and DPP for photo editing. (Primarily) I don't have PP b/c I don't have enough ram and need a new computer (Which I plan to get in a few months.)

Anyway, I know how to convert raw files in a batch process. But this leaves them huge.
What program can I use to resize them? I am uploading to photobucket, resizing, then downloading back to my laptop and then uploading to flicker-it is just too much.

There must be an easier way.

(I have the free flicker acct, and it only allows so many mb per month.

Wow! That sounds like way too much work/trouble just to resize your pictures. Also, you are likely losing lots of data from your pics each time you do this.

Your existing software has the features you are looking for. I haven't used ZoomEx Browser or DPP to resize files like you are looking to do, but I did open them up (just a few moments ago) to see what kind of functionality they had for simply resizing photos. ZoomEx Browser does have an export function that will allow you to specify the size and quality of the photos as you export them. I don't know how fast it will accomplish the task, but it's there. I do know it takes awhile for the software to export a movie file, but it does a good job.

It also looks like DPP will allow you to batch process files into smaller versions and save them wherever you want to. Again, I don't know how quickly it will handle the task. If you are only interested in showing the photos on the web, you will be just fine exporting the photos at 72 or 96 (I think) dpi. It looks like the default with DPP is 300 dpi, which is way overkill for monitor display purposes.

Another option might be to download and install Picasa. This is what I typically use to simply export my photos in a downsized version for email or display on the web. It's quite fast and seems, to me anyway, to do a good job.

Edit (addition): If you are already aware of the following, please don't take offense; I personally hate it when people try to tell me about things I already know about because they assume I don't. So - I would like to assume that you are not replacing your original files with your edited and resized ones, but just in case... be sure to always save your edited files to a new name and/or new location so you don't destroy your original. As long as you are using the export features of the software, it should take care of this for you, but be careful.

oh thanks much, I was looking for a something that said "resize" I will export them to another folder and label it re-sized. (And keep the originals in another folder.) I am still learning dpp, in the past I used Zoomex mostly, but now that I deal more in raw-I need dpp.

I have Picasa-but it really drags on my 1g ram system.
