Default .xmp sidecar files

GOD they make me angry! they just glare at me looking like ugly grey squares taking up parts of my monitor with their dumb little .xmp extention!

if i do all my adjustments and then export all as TIFF files, is there any reason to keep the NEF's?

It is your original file & best back up copy. If you are not concerned with that then ditch 'em.

Provided you haven't enabled showing hidden folders in Explorer, you could hide all the .xmp files. Granted you'll have to do this on occasion, but to hide all the ones you have now:

Start -> Run -> type "cmd" (without the quotes) -> OK

attrib +h driveLetter:\*.xmp /s where driveLetter is the letter of the drive where your images (and the sidecar files) are stored.

When that finishes, type "exit" and hit [ENTER]

I would think there would be some kind of Windows registry setting that would allow you to set the default attribute of .xmp files to hidden, but as of yet I haven't found one.

i always put my RAW and xmp files into a folder of their own once im done. So i'll have a folder with my jpgs and a subfolder full of RAW and XMP files.
