Default Help please- PSE9

Could somebody please tell me how I should remove the twig that crosses this bird's feet and the leaf? Although I think I should remove the leaf too. I've had a play but I'm a bit lost. I've played with the clone stamp tool, the healing brush and a couple of others with very limited results!

It will sound harsh but your best option is probably to go back and take another picture without the twig and leaf in the way. I don't know if your original image is higher quality but the one shown here is highly pixellated and, if that is the result you are after, it will very difficult to patch in without being obvious.

You have much better photos on your Flickr account so I wouldn't be inclined to invest the time in polishing this one.

If it is anywhere remotely that prominent in the final image it's probably a lost cause...
You could get it "close" but it will probably never look 100% right.

I used the clone tool, very soft setting...resample often. Took a couple minutes. With a lot more work you could get it a bit better.

Thanks guys! Didn't see your answers as they came a little while after I posted the thread. Sorry for the slow response. Yes, I've pretty much given up on this photo as I had to submit a couple for a project back when I posted the thread. Wulf it is very highly pixellated, I'm always shooting at my limit and cropping big time, I need a new lens especially if I want to continue with capturing birds. Unfortunately I can't return to the place, it's an island in the middle of a lake and the birds that are there are quite rare. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for your tips too sk66, that looks one hell of a lot better even without some extra time. I might have a play on it now that you've given me some clues as what to use- obviously I'm not using the clone tool long enough (I'm expecting it to change it almost instantly!). I have a headache from trying to teach myself Photoshop at the moment, too many tutorials to watch not enough time!
