Default Lightroom vs photoshop, what's the difference?

I have been using Elements in the past and have recently started trying to learn how to use the full Photoshop (mainly for layers and masks). I find it quite overwhelming and sometimes the menu system and buttons seem overly convoluted for the most common things I use. I just don't find the buttons and options very intuitive.

I realise that is mostly due to my inexperience, however I watched a friend using Lightroom for a while and the user interface seemed to be a lot more user friendly!

They are both made by Adobe aren't they? What is the difference between them? Is Lightroom like Elements - a simplified version of photoshop? I'm completely confused.

Any advice appreciated.

You got that right - I have him saved in my favourites for Youtube LOL! Just watched the video you posted in here & it was brilliant! I have both, and am learning Lightroom at TAFE, but we're not really getting it taught properly, so I really don't like it at the moment hehe...... I need to learn it though, coz it looks great!
