Default Tips for printing at home

Please suggest me the print settings in Photoshop for home printing. Should I let the printer manage the colors or the color management be handled by Photoshop itself? What's the difference in the output?

Depends on which method of management you prefer. Just make sure you don't do both at the same time. What I mean by that is, if you select Photoshop Manages Colors, then you have to make sure to DISABLE color management in the printer preferences. If you select Printer Manages Colors, then make sure to manage your colors correctly within the printer preferences dialog.

Typically, I like to manage colors from Photoshop, so I disable color management in the printer preferences. I have color profiles for each media type, and I simply select the correct profile. Photoshop gives me a reasonably accurate rendition of how it will look on paper (though it's never going to match perfectly).

That said, unless you're doing work that requires very accurate color, you'll most likely be fine accepting the printer's default color management.

I actually had better luck letting my Epson printer manage the colors and then fine-tuning darkness and color in the preview pane ... photoshop was giving me darker hotter colors even though my monitor was calibrated and I used the ICC profiles ... it requires some proof prints and playing around to get what you want ...
