Default Why do I have to be connected to net to use Photoshop?

Hello,

I recently purchased photoshop elements and will be teaching myself how to use it (so basically it will take loootttts of time!) I just set it up on my computer and was annoyed to learn that in order to use it, I have to be connected to the internet (which I do not have at home). Rather than sit at Starbucks for hours using their wireless internet, I would love to be able to mess with the program without the internet. Is this possible? Everytime I pull it up it forces me to log in and connect to the internet...

Thanks!

I use it all of the time without being connected to the net. In fact, our dsl was out for 8 hours today and I used it.
I am not sure why you would need to be connected. Something doesn't seem right???

Yeah. seems wrong.
Have you tried getting an answer from:
Adobe Forums: Forum: Photoshop Elements
or
Photoshop Elements Help and Support

Might be a licensing issue as it may be wanting to check the internet to validate your copy?? If so it might be possible to circumvent this by popping the adobe website into your computers host file and point it to your loop back address (127.0.0.1). But for name follow BigFuzzy's advise to see if you can find out anything there.
